The Cabin

A Cabin with a Story

Originally built around 1900, MayneWave has welcomed visitors to Mayne Island for well over a century.

Long before that, the shores of Miners Bay were home to Coast Salish First Nations peoples. During the Fraser River Gold Rush of the 1850s, the bay became a stopping place for prospectors travelling north, adding another chapter to this remarkable location's history.

Today, MayneWave has been thoughtfully restored, preserving its heritage while providing the comfort and convenience of modern living.

Whether you're planning a romantic getaway, a family holiday, or visiting friends and family on the island, MayneWave offers a peaceful place to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the slower pace of island life.

Why Guests Love Staying at MayneWave

🪵 Heritage Meets Modern Comfort

Every renovation was guided by one philosophy: preserve the cabin's character while providing today's comforts.

Lovingly renovated in 2021, the cabin blends more than a century of history with contemporary amenities, creating a warm, welcoming place that feels authentic, comfortable, and unmistakably Mayne Island.

🌊 An Exceptional Location

One of MayneWave's greatest advantages is its location.

Many guests choose to leave the car behind and simply enjoy island life on foot.

The recently completed pedestrian and cycling pathway provides a safe and enjoyable route from the ferry terminal for most of the journey. The cabin is approximately a 25-minute walk or a short bicycle ride from the ferry, allowing many guests to avoid ferry vehicle reservations and additional vehicle fares.

Within a few minutes' walk you'll find:

  • Beach at Miners Bay (50 metres)
  • Village bakery
  • Two grocery stores
  • Liquor store
  • Post Office
  • Gas station
  • Historic village
  • Summer concert venue

✈️ Easy to Reach

MayneWave is one of the most accessible Gulf Island destinations.

Guests travelling from Vancouver can take the scheduled float plane service between Vancouver International Airport's South Terminal (YVR South) and Mayne Island. The float plane dock is only a five-minute walk from the cabin.

Guests arriving by private boat will appreciate the nearby Government Dock, just a short walk away.

Whether you arrive by ferry, float plane, bicycle, private boat, or car, your island getaway begins the moment you step ashore.
